Yet another ramen craving came upon me and decided to check this place out. It's right smack downtown so there is little to no street parking but parkades are scattered everywhere.
They are also affiliated with Ramen Butcher over at East Georgia.
I've got the 'Basic Ramen ' as per the servers recommendation. I've also opted for the thin noodles rather than the fat ones that come with it. Rich broth option with Pork Chasu
The broth had great flavour. The noodles were cooked great and the pork chasu was fatty (just the way I like it)
Umami bomb on each sip. Topping are extra of course
The place has a nice setting to it and it's right by two busy cross- streets, so you can really see the hustle and bustle of DT Vancouver while you have your ramen.
Try the 'Basic' and slurp awayHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 7, 2024Updated review
Place is always busy during lunch hours, smallish place with seating/tables cramped together. Nice place for a quick casual meal.
Semi open kitchen smack in the middle of the restaurant
Normal ramen selections with either char siu or karage chicken protein options.

Normal ramen selections with either char siu or karage chicken protein options. Big difference is the amount of noodles given which is alot, hence the name "Jiro"

The basic ramen noodles were firm and I have to admit one of the chewiest I've had. The"rich" soup base was excellent, full body and flavorful, keep a glass of water nearby to cut into the saltiness between slurps.
The Yuzu ramen was unique, amazing yuzu essence all the way to the last slurp
If a place is consistently busy, it's got to be good. Preach - Oct 17, 2023
I have been to this ramen joint in Yaletown a few times for a fair judgement. I tried their Yokohama Iekei ramen, tsukemen and the famous Bakkamori ramen. I would say I got fully satisfied every time I visited the place.
The place is not difficult to find and usually there is a queue outside the shop. The interior is neat and tidy. Servers are attentive and I could observe the majority of them are Japanese.
Their tsukemen has very big portion and the ramen is made of buckwheat. The tsukemen soup for dipping tasted fantastic. Add the vinegar provided if you want a less greasy texture. This was recommended by a Japanese when I was asking for a high quality and value tsukemen in Vancouver. Compared to some long queue waiting ramen shop for tsukemen the quality and quantity are in fact much better, I am sure.
The Bakkamori Ramen is no doubt the epic choice for someone with big stomach or shared by two persons. The huge amount of spring spouts and karaage is definitely satisfying that nowhere in Vancouver can you find the same.
They have more appetisers and side dishes worth trying. I will definitely return.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 8, 2023

Pretty good dipping ramen, with wheat noodles. The price was reasonable and the portions were good.
Chasu was on point and thick. Dipping broth was generous. Egg was softboiled - like it should be. Thick noodles absorb the soup wellHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sep 3, 2023
Really good ramen, slight thicker than the other ramen place but I absolutely enjoyed it. The soup is so tasty and the karaage was seasoned perfectly.
As you can see from the pic, my order has lots of bean sprouts. It is super detoxifying and great to paired with fried chicken for sure.
Look forward to eating here again soon.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Anito P.Metrotown, Burnaby, CanadaJan 22, 2024
My bf and I came here after the hockey game and there was already a line up around 730pm. The wait wasn't too bad though as we waited about 10 mins.
We both ordered the bakamori karaage ramen. The server told us the portion was massive, she wasn't kidding. We also shared a side of spicy fried rice.
Midway through eating the ramen I was getting sick of the flavour, ramen and even chicken karaage. The chicken karaage had a lot of fat inside that was putting me off. I really enjoyed the fried rice, my only complaint was it was overly greasy.
I probably wouldn't order the bakamori ramen again but for the price and the portion you get it's not bad.
Service was good.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 26, 2023
We had tsukemen and Yokohama Iekei ramen and tsukemen was so good! Yokohama was thick but flavor was more similar to stewed pork to me (now I realized why they put "home-made" in the description), so generally it was not as impressive. Service was good and attentive even though the whole place was busy at noon. Crazy how busy it still is on the weekdays.

Delicioso
My favorite place in all Vancouver. I'm in love with the delicious chashu tsukemen since 2018. Unfortunately last time I went my order was a bit cold :/ but it still being the best, could be cause I arrived really early.
The personal is kind and the prices are pretty good.
I highly recommend try the the tsukemen not the ramen.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 22, 2022
This is the other ramen store I like most in vancouver downtown, tried 5 different ramen store in a row.
They provide jiro-style, also known as gatsuri-style, ramen. This style of ramen boasts voluminous amounts of noodles and toppings and is wildly popular in Japan.
We ordered YOKOHAMA IEKEI ramen, it's pork and chicken broth with shoyu flavour based from Yokohama. Thick noodles with very flavourful broth with depth and complexity. Many people don't like this kind of richness but I love it, although a little bit salty.
Also Gyoza is great, I think their KARAAGE are good with crispy outerier and juciy chicken. Not so in to the yuzu jelly, also it tastes fresh.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
