Shine-N-Seal Express Car Wash

I wanted to take some time to update my review and talk about my second experience at Shine-N-Seal.

I got some bird poop on my car yesterday and decided to take my car to the Shine-N-Seal Express Car Wash; on arrival, it looked like everyone in the city had the same idea on this beautiful Sunday morning.

The car wash was busy, the service was moving at a great pace and the attendants were helpful and friendly as they always are.

I can't reach the point of sale screen from my car so the attendant kindly took my card and selected the service for me; I got the Shine-N-Seal package which is $25.

For this being my second time trying their service, I am very pleased.

This time around, the back of the car was cleaner than my last visit.

Although hands-free car washes are notoriously bad for your paint, I didn't get any scratches or noticeable swirls; those can usually be fixed by a great detailer; this isn't a detailing service but washing your car is obviously great maintenance and upkeep for your vehicle's paint and exterior until you get to a detailer.

Once I got home and inspected the vehicle a bit more closely, I'd say Shine-N-Seal gave me more than my money's worth today and my car came out flawlessly.

I am definitely going to keep coming back and I am tempted to explore their other offerings for repeat customers.

Honestly, the wash service is fine. However, when I sign up for the gold plan, it's like 45 bucks a month right? But you can't use the vacuum? So I have to pay extra to use the vacuum? That makes absolutely no sense to me. I understand if they want to have some kind of control over the use of the vacuum? But if I'm already paying 45 bucks a month to wash my car, why on earth would I have to pay extra to use their vacuum. I'm not sure more people, complain about this. They ought to have a card you can swipe at the vacuum when you have the membership. Charging customers an extra fee to use the vacuum, when they are already paying between 35 and $45 monthly to wash their cars, is greedy AF.

I've gone here for years and I think they've changed their soap formula to one that leaves a film that attracts dust and debris.

The last 2 times, my car had been covered in dust after 2 days. Usually I can go weeks without a car wash, but not its days.

Good for business, bad for your wallet!

Great car wash. I had unlimited when I was driving for Lyft. my car always looked like it just came off the show room floor.

They're ok when they are open, but they often close 15 minutes early which is something to keep in mind especially if you're considering getting the unlimited membership. They'll close it even if you're in line and have been waiting for 10 minutes already. They have other car wash services in South City for only $30 unlimited wash and they never close early.

I paid for the monthly unlimited wash. On 4/8 my car came out of the wash with scratches all over the right passenger rear side (brand new car) did not noticed until I got home and parked.

After the scratches, safe to say I won't be going back after the incident. Which they already charged me for the entire month. My lost.

The worst part is, to cancel the monthly membership, their main phone line indicates that you MUST do cancel online via ShineNseal.com, however, there is absolutely NO option for cancelation on their website. I called the mainline back, told a rep I will not be back because my car had scratches from the wash on 4/8. A rude employee told me they can not prorate the monthly charge, don't know why there is no option to cancel online, that is his Manager's problem. He told me can cancel it for me over the phone, but he can not give me cancelation confirmation, they only provide cancelation receipt which I HAVE to go to their wash location to pick up the cancelation receipt IN PERSON.
This is an extremely dishonest management practice.

STAY AWAY from this business, unless you want the headache of dealing with their terrible business practice and scratches on your car.

Update: everything I said in previous review is still valid, with a couple updates:

- They can get pretty busy now in the afternoon especially. I'd recommend going earlier in the morning, or checking Google maps for a proxy for how busy it is.
- Their website for adding value to prepaid cards is not good. I wasn't able to recharge my card, and customer service didn't email me back.

If the minor rating is available, I must do that, I spend $20, and it's not clear and makes my car all scratched. The backup mirrors are terrible now. I strongly recommend please come to another car wash, not here!

Very long wait to get the car cleaned. Probably about 25 cars ahead of me. Also there's always something broken or not working in the car wash, one of the spray heads on left side of the car is malfunctioning and spraying way too hard like a machine gun, scared it will damage my car.

There was whole debacle with the credit cards, but the car is super clean. It even smells nice. 95% worth the money.
