Ok folks, my review of where I work. Typically on any given weekend at a smaller Uhaul, one can come in and rent a vehicle or trailer without a reservation. This facility however is very different. This is the center hub for truck distribution from the North Bay, East Bay and even as far as Santa Cruz. Yes, we do have trucks but not all of them belong to the actual rental center.
We usually have around 25-30 local trucks that you can rent and return to our facility. But during the end of the month, we have around 40-45 to accommodate the people that move in/out of homes and apartments that schedule their move during those times. With that information, PLEASE RESERVE A TRUCK 2-3 DAYS AHEAD OF TIME. even more so if you are planning on going one-way. A one-way rental is where you rent a truck from us and you leave it at another Uhaul in the new town, city, or area you've moved to. A one-way rental works differently than a local rental.
1. For a one-way rental, you get a certain amount of miles free and a certain amount of days free. For example, and this is just an example and not a real quote of an amount, if you move to Modesto, CA you would receive 55 miles for free and have 1 day to get it there. If you go past the 1 day (24 hour period), you pay $40/day and if you go over the free 55 miles, you pay .40 (cents) per mile.
Parking: The facility has three (3) driveways. The FIRST driveway is for customer parking. DON'T BE AFRAID TO PARK IN FRONT OF THE FOR SALE TRUCKS!! Parking is pretty easy and if the lot is full, you can also park in the employee parking area with no problems. The SECOND driveway is an exit for all of our rental trucks/vans and trailers. Please be aware that most of the time, they are stacked by a line of trucks/trailers and if you pass the FIRST driveway, you are/might have to make a U-turn to get back to the facility. The THIRD and final driveway is the entrance to our RETURN LANE. Now, some folks say that there is no way of knowing that there is a third driveway but we do have signs up to follow. When returning the rental equipment, come in through the return lane/area and wait for a CSR (customer service rep) to process you. Now, if you've come in and given us your email address, we can inspect the truck/trailer and send you on your way and email the receipt to you. If you didn't give us your email address or provide us with one, you will have to come into the center and wait in line to procure that receipt. As I stated earlier, if it is a weekend, chances are there will be a line of some sort.
NOTE: Please use Uhaul.com to check our inventory and make your reservations there. Be as detailed as possible so that we can provide you with the best service.
NOTE TWO: We have a group of new (wet behind the ears) CSR's and can help you in anyway. Please be patient with them, especially during contract writeups and questions about the equipment.
The manager, Daniel, if very knowledgeable and is at the center during the day. I myself, work only in the weekends and if you see me there, and I am not dealing with 2 or more customers, feel free to ask any questions that concerns you in regards to our trucks/trailers, boxes, propane, and other sales items.
I hope this was not long winded and I hope this helped.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Keith G.Daly City, CA192354Apr 21, 2024
For the location, this is a five star place. We had a hard time using the 24/7 rental from Uhaul and Amy, who was there early, helped us get settled. They didn't open until 9:00 AM and she set us up an hour early! Thanks Amy for your excellent customer service! They had a large fleet of trucks and after she helped us, it was an easy and straight forward transaction.
For Uhaul as a whole, maybe 3 stars for the trouble we had to go through to get the truck we reserved ahead of time.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 11, 2024
This is the first time I've had awesome service filling the RV without propane at a U-Haul. The lady saw me pull in and came right out before I rang the bell. This location also has a ramp to the parking lot graded properly so scrapping is mitigated. My 29' RV touched nothing.

When I picked up the vehicle, nobody walked me around to check the vehicle together. Which is a very basic thing to do. When I dropped off the vans, the guy at the register said that he didn't have to check and he also said that no extra charge. I said are you sure because i wanted to be sure, and he said yes because he was assisting another customer and was agreeing with my return. And later on they came back with extra charges saying I was at fault for damaging the vehicle when i did not even scratch it. The lady also explained that we gave you 40% off for fixing the vehicle. Very shady business. Please be aware!!!

Least expensive place to get your BBQ propane tanks filled but make sure the tank's certification has not expired. For your info to date, this U-Haul charges $3.25 per gallon plus tax. Dales Hardware at $4.99, and Kamps Propane at Depot Road, Hayward, at $4.09. Propane gas has gone up a lot!

Only positive vibes about this place. Visited and picked up so many packing materials from here for my move from Bay Area. The staffs are always helpful and at your service if you need any help. I had some terrible experiences from here, may be a few years ago, but I can clearly see a difference now. Not sure what changed, but it whatever it is, it's changed for good.

Dude has been ripping me off since 2018. His MO is to get you in to a comfortable monthly rate and then raise your rent by 150% + in a month or 2. Then, I asked the owner (Les Hella) for the paperwork showing the increase in rent and he scrubbed the paperwork. This means that he deleted what the charges were and sent what the lower rent pricing was. He also failed to provide a fully executed copy of the contracts.
See you very soon in court, Les. I also have you on audio recording with your authorization.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 29, 2020
I recently purchased a new home and thus the process of moving started. My wife and I needed to move quite a bit of stuff from our existing residence to our new one; about 15 miles away in the next town over.
We reserved a 21 foot U Haul the night before on their website. My appointment time was for 8am. I showed up at 8am and there was 1 person working the counter. It's probably a good idea to have more than 1 person working the early mornings to get people in & out.
The truck was clean. Most of the dents had been marked but they did miss one. No worries I used the app to report it. I wish the lot was a little larger as maneuvering a big truck like that was not easy.
Customer service was OK. Bare minimum to get the job done. Guy at the counter looked like he really didn't want to be there. Pricing is high. Over $100 for 3 hours and 30 miles seems like a lot.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jesse L.CA, CA449134Jun 20, 2021
HITCH INSTALL REVIEW
I booked an appointment online at this location, despite it being 50 miles away from where I live because the Uhaul website said the hitch receiver I need was in stock and could be installed same day. I called many times to try and confirm the part was in fact in stock, but no one answers the phones. Despite 4 separate calls, waiting on hold over 15 minutes each time, no one ever answered.
The day of my 11AM appointment, I arrived at the location 10 minutes early, and after letting someone know I was here for an appointment they told me to wait for the hitch installer to arrive. 30 minutes later, I asked again, and a different staff person told me "Sorry, he doesn't arrive until 1PM." It was now 11:30...
I asked him to confirm that the part was in stock and it could be installed before end of day if I waited until 1PM and then was told... get this:
1) the part wasn't even in stock
2) it wouldn't be in stock for 3 - 4 weeks.
Needless to say, I will be going elsewhere to get a hitch receiver installed and recommend you do too.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 13, 2016
