Nic’s 2-star review: This location is awful.. One of the rooms is next to the parking lot, so if you have a class in the dark, you'll constantly be getting blinded by cars' headlights. Definitely what I envision a rejuvenating yoga class to be like. Throughout the class, the instructor let people come in up to 30 minutes late AND made the rest of us move our mats to accommodate them. I was stunned. Not only do most studios have a closed-door policy (once class begins) or five-minutes-grace, at most, but they let those people in only if space is available. In this case, we already had a tight fit, so accommodating the late-comers resulted in everyone trying not to whack each other rather than getting into the poses. (I still ended up with arms and legs on me.) I'm not sure if it was just this teacher, but it left a horrible impression. I like the Cindy's on El Camino much better. -
Nic’s 3-star review: 3.5 stars Cue U2's "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For." That's unfortunately where I stand. I fell head-over-heals in love with CorePower Yoga in another state and have struggled to find a studio in the Bay which does a Vinyasa Flow. The class I took here was specifically titled, "Vinyasa Flow," yet the only flowing we ever did was through 2-3 movements. :-( The teacher was absolutely lovely, studio was nice, etc. etc... but no Vinyasa to be found. I'd like to give them another go - perhaps at the Lawrence Expy location - but I'm still looking around, too. -
Nic’s 5-star review: Updating to add, Ashley is awesome!! In the 'Starbucks for Life' contest that's running right now, one of the "challenges" is to highlight a great barista. I knew right away I wanted to nominate her. This girl rocks. She's always smiling and truly cares about customers and customer service. I wish that wasn't a rarity, but it is. Ashley is a gem! I don't know how far the recognition will go in that contest, so I'm writing here, too. ___ Original review (10/21/17) YAY: - Friendly baristas - Stocked milk/cream/spices/napkins - Seating (plenty of choices, from window seats to a community table to cushy bench seating) - Quick WiFi NAY: - Parking (cramped, few spots, 1hr limit) - Bathrooms (very dirty and one was out of order) There's also a drive-thru, but I did not experience that. -
Nic’s 3-star review: Good service and nice seating. The parking situation, however, merits only 1 star. Good luck finding a spot during meal times (e.g. lunch or dinner). They could really use more spots, but I know there's nowhere to put them. Other than that, our food was great! I'd come back, but it'd have to be off peak hours. -
Nic’s 4-star review: NOTE: I called and came in for a quick fix, so my experience may not be representative of buying and/or servicing a car here. That said, my experience with Serramonte Subaru was pretty smooth sailing. For a couple months now, my car has been saying "Access Key Battery Low" on the dash every time I got in. Since I barely drive these days, that means: 1) when I get in my car, it's because I'm on a mission and don't have time to divert and deal with this, and 2) I'll forget about it between that drive and the next one. I was pushed to the edge when it took my car several minutes to acknowledge the key and let me in. Ok ok ok ok ok...I'll fix you. Geez. I looked for the closest dealer and found Serramonte. Their phone line is heavily automated, but I eventually reached a human who confirmed they had the right battery in stock and could quickly swap it out. Nice! Once there, I found the Parts desk unmanned and it took awhile before someone came to help me out. They tried to charge me for the battery, which I found pretty silly (it's the type of battery you can buy a 12-pack of for $4 on Amazon), but I'm just glad I have a functioning key again. Phew! While I was largely ignored by everyone here, the man in Parts was the same one I spoke to over the phone, and he was super super nice. I would consider making this my regular dealer. We'll see! -
Nic’s 4-star review: I never understood how two Targets manage to survive in such close proximity, but boy do they both stay busy. This is a slightly smaller and older (mostly just from outside) version of the Target across 280. As far as I could tell, it was pretty 1:1 in terms of departments and merch. I mostly came for groceries (amazing how Target has changed over the years!) but perused some of the other sections, and they were well-stocked. Their home goods selection, in particular, was really nice! There's everything as you'd expect - including Starbucks and a CVS pharmacy. -
Nic’s 4-star review: Cute Starbucks - a bit tucked away in the plaza (we almost thought it was in the grocery store), but it's actually a decent-sized shop. Nice baristas, lots of seating, solid experience. -
Nic’s 3-star review: This is a smaller Whole Foods, but the prepared food selection was decent. We were trying to please an entire family's tastes for lunch, and this spot made it perfect that all of us could get what we wanted (including a whole rotisserie chicken! haha) and there are other nice fast-casual restaurants within the plaza. The weather was so good, that we all got to eat outdoors together. I'm not sure I would have a great experience grocery shopping here, but it fit the need on this day. -
Nic’s 4-star review: Very surprised by this Target! Some sections were pretty sparse, others were much better than usual. The best part was the food. This Target has fresh food, including fruits and veggies, and a load of regular grocery items you don't see at Targets in CA. (In Illinois and Colorado, this would be normal.) Parking was plentiful, and the store is nice and spacious. Will be back! -
Nic’s 3-star review: ***THIS BED BATH & BEYOND DOES NOT CARRY COSMETICS OR BEAUTY GOODS*** I drove all the way here specifically for cosmetics and personal goods, only to find they don't carry anything of the sort. :-( There are a lot of other things, from shoe racks to protein shaker bottles, so it's still good for those things (i.e. kitchen and home goods). Parking was easy and plentiful. Also, the cutest little lady was working here. I could try to guess her age, but that's rude and I'd probably be wrong, but she was dressed better than people a fraction her age. She made my day! -
Nic’s 4-star review: This Marshalls is dangerous! I haven't had much luck at Marshalls/TJ's in California, but this one got me. There was clothing galore, including amazing shoes and accessories, and there was also a boatload of home goods and pet stuff I wasn't expecting. From vases to fancy sofa chairs, it's all here! Minus one star for a cashier who kept interrogating customers while checking out. Everyone just wanted to pay and leave. -
Nic’s 3-star review: Stopped in for coffee over the weekend. Parking was insane. Coffee is just okay, as is the interior. It's got the cozy-bordering-on-dingy vibe going on. Nothing was terrible, but it required a bit of effort to park and get inside. Wouldn't go out of my way to come back here again. **CHECK IN BEFORE ORDERING** There's a deal to be had... :) (as of Jan. 2017) -

Nic’s 4-star review: This is a very nice mall! I went out of my way to come here, and it was well worth it. Bonus points for Forever 21 + H&M being next-door neighbors. I like to do my shopping fast (I'm an in-and-out kind of shopper), so that obviously helped. Parking was pretty easy (although the spaces are insanely cramped), and the mall is nice and clean inside. Will be back! -
Nic’s 5-star review: AMAZING. I have been to many, many, many Forever 21s in my day (I don't know if I should admit how long I've been shopping at F21, but....) and in many different states, and this one knocked my socks off. This store is well-organized, and the clothing is the latest and greatest (read: on-trend). The best part was the amount of sale merchandise; I swear 1/3 of the store is filled with things on sale, and I was able to score a bunch of deals thanks to that. I had zero expectations of this when I came in, so it was a very pleasant surprise. My one bone to pick is the lack of sizes in jeans. I couldn't find anything within a 5-size range of mine (and I'm not an unusual size; perhaps this is evidence of it...). You would think they have data on that and would stock accordingly (i.e. most frequently-purchased sizes = greater stock). Anyway, I'm not on F21's retail strategy board, so I'll step off my soap box. TL;DR awesome store. Will be back. Maybe. I also like keeping my money...but...clothes... -
Nic’s 4-star review: Really debated between 2, 3, and 4 stars. Let me explain: 2 stars: -- lack of selection/variety -- massive lack of sizes ---------- most shoes barely had 2-3 boxes beneath them, and all in the edge sizes (below 6.5 or 10+) -- the line ---------- if not for the incredible coupon I had, I would have set the shoes down and walked out 3 stars: -- clean store 4 stars: -- I ultimately found not one, but two pairs I liked. ---------- However, back to 2-star section, another shopper waltzed off with the first pair. Guess what? We were the same size; DSW had one pair. -- friendly cashier (I always appreciate that) If you're hot on going to DSW, I might suggest another location. This store is deceiving [two floors of shoes! Hey, hi, helloooo!] then you see the merchandise; it's baffling how so much store can be consumed with so much...nothing. Parking is annoying, but it is near a Trader Joe's. Me likey. -
Nic’s 3-star review: It pains me to give H&M only 3 stars, but this store is lackluster. They have limited merchandise and sizing. I've come here several times and always walked out empty-handed. (Note: This is typically not a problem for me; half my closet is H&M.) -
Nic’s 5-star review: Just after being helped by one of the friendlest folks on the planet, I happened upon another from that species. I'm referring to a store associate (or crew cruise ship member..whatever they're officially called here) and cashier, respectively. This is Trader Joe's as Trader Joe's goes, given the stock + selection. (It's all there, and it's all great.) Parking is decent, but expect a flurry of folks on the weekend. (Hi there! Captain Obvious, speaking.) ----- Dear Trader Joe's corporate: A+++++ for hiring the best of the best, the happiest of the happy, and most personable people-person persons alive. Nic’s 4-star review: Even though the whole point of chains is to have a standardized experience, there are still better and worse spots; this Chipotle is one of the better ones. They have great food and nice location with outdoor seating. It is located near Whole Foods, so parking can get a bit crazy, but it's never been unmanageable. -
Nic’s 4-star review: This is an incredible Target! They have the largest variety and stock of home goods I've ever seen. Not only that, but it's all gorgeous. Rugs, throw blankets, decorative pillows and vases...etc. If I had more time, energy, and car space, I would have definitely bought some things. (Sir Dog was hogging up the back seat, for better or worse :)) Some Targets can feel a bit dingy, but not this one. The store was large and airy. The clothing selection is vast, and the groceries are probably the best I've ever seen at a Target (and that includes Super Target in other states). Very impressive. -1 star for the parking (no bueno). It's a zig-zag style lots with one-way lanes. If you don't mind walking, there are spots perpendicular to the main road at the end. PRO TIP: Customer Service/online orders/returns are at the left entrance. -
Nic’s 3-star review: Pros: -- Friendly baristas. -- Good stock of food items. Cons: -- Tiny store. -- Small, uphill parking lot. (But you can just park in one of the regular store lots across the street.) -- Gross bathroom. (Exceptionally gross.) -- No milk, only half & half. (But the barista will sort you out with milk.) -
Nic’s 4-star review: 4 stars for actually being a Bed, Bath, and BEYOND. (Some of the BBBY stores in the Bay area don't carry cosmetics/shampoo/etc., and I usually don't discover that until after I've driven all the way out to one...) This one is decent. The selection isn't huge, but I found what I wanted, so I have no complaints. Service/time to wait in line wasn't terrible, either; many BBBY's struggle there, so I was really glad this one had a good flow for checkout. Would return. -
Nic’s 3-star review: Yelp math: (1 + 5) / 2 = 3 stars! We had one standard order and one customized order, and the latter was not as expected (my friend has a specific drink, and it didn't quite turn out right). My cappuccino was solid. I was a happy (and happily caffeinated) camper. -
Nic’s 4-star review: We've been here a few times and always had a good experience. Servers are quick, orders are correct (and a bit generous), no complaints. Also love that it's in a plaza with so many other options; from Trader Joe's to Baskin' Robbins, Starbucks to World Market..it's all here! 3.5 stars rounded up. It's Sunday. I'm feeling good. -
Nic’s 4-star review: Nice Trader Joe's -- good selection and friendly employees, as is standard with TJ's. I especially love the location; it shares a plaza with Chipotle, Starbucks, World Market...you name it. -
Nic’s 3-star review: 5 stars for the employees 3.5 stars for taste 2* stars for price (* because I had a $3 off coupon) I haven't had Jamba Juice in over a decade, and I'm a pumpkin fan - although, not with a sweet tooth - so the super-sugary drinks at cafes don't work for me. I decided to try out Jamba's Pumpkin Protein Smoothie, thinking it would be a good alternative. The drink ended up being incredibly sweet. I asked the guy who made it if that's how it's supposed to be, and he immediately grabbed my drink and said he would remake it to be less sweet. I was really impressed! He succeeded, however, all the pumpkin flavour was gone; turns out, the pumpkin spice they use is what makes it so sweet. I was bummed but glad to have something I could actually drink. The prices here are obscene -- $6.50 for a small is way too much. I could make a fruit and protein smoothie at home for less than $1. Yay for nice and very willing employees, but I would not get that drink again. -
Nic’s 4-star review: As a recent transplant to SF from the South Bay, Sprouts is what is missing for me the most. I finally made the pilgrimage down to this one in Daly City, and it was worth it. I was particularly impressed that all sales items were in stock -- can't say the same for South Bay stores! -- and the salad/food bar was the most robust I've seen at any location (in California or Colorado). Lines were rough, but that's true for every Sprouts. I'll be baaaaack! -
Nic’s 3-star review: 1 star for the parking lot and lack of merchandise. The parking lot here is pure madness due to its design and, what I assume to be, hangry parkers. I love Safeway's Just4You program but oftentimes have trouble finding what I have coupons for; the items are either completely sold out or not stocked at this store to begin with. -32985 stars for the lines. They are ALWAYS crazy-long - both the regular registers and self-checkout. 3 stars for the cashiers, as they are hit or miss; some have been unbelievably kind and friendly, others you hope to never see again. This should be a 2 or negative-something star review, but...Safeway. It does the trick 70% of the time. I'm too lazy to do more math.

Nic’s 4-star review: First time for everything - someone crashed into my uber. The impact scared the bejesus out of me (we were hit on the side I was sitting on), and I got a solid dose of whiplash. I tend to push myself through just about everything in life (doctors are a last last last resort, same for Tylenol, etc.) so I thought I was okay. Lo-and-behold, girl can't turn her neck and her back feels like it's on fire. (Okay....maybe I should go somewhere....) I initially called a different urgent care (Sutter Health) who told me to go to the ER. Not wanting to spend my day there - and pre-dreading trying to claim back even $1 of health costs due to this - I came to Dignity Health instead. They took care of me pretty quickly upon walk-in, although it ended up taking over an hour. Shout out to Kevin at the front desk and Dr. Karen. Both were friendly and helpful. I believe they did the best they could and wouldn't be surprised if they were the only two working that day; quite a few people came after me, and apparently others were already in waiting rooms when I got there, so they had their hands full. -
Nic’s 3-star review: The layout of this Party City is the most interesting thing about it; the ground floor is just the start of the escalator, and the second floor is where the store actually is. That said, I'll just rehash other reviews: - the line was long but moved fairly quickly - the selection is okay but not great (lots of empty aisles) I was rang up by a very friendly associate, though, and I got roughly what I wanted (although the price was a bit wild for a couple party favours).
