Unlocking Potential: The Business Case for Accessible Communication. As we recognise Deaf Awareness Month, let's highlight the importance of accessible communication in the workplace. Assistive devices such as hearing aids, cochlear implants, and communication apps can significantly enhance the lives of deaf and hearing impaired individuals. By supporting the use of these devices, businesses can: Tap into a talented and diverse pool of candidates, expanding their workforce and enhancing innovation. Improve employee engagement, productivity, and retention. Enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty by providing inclusive services. Comply with disability employment laws and regulations. At Western Cape APD, we believe that accessible communication is a key driver of business success. By embracing diversity and inclusion, organisations can unlock the full potential of their employees and customers. Let's work together to create a more inclusive and accessible world, where everyone has equal opportunities to succeed! #wcapd #deafawareness #inclusionmatters #accessibility #raiseawareness #contactus 🔗 https://wcapd.org.za National Council of and for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD)

Striving towards an inclusive society in which persons with disabilities are equal and active citizens.
About us
Western Cape APD is a group of people, both volunteers and staff, who work together with persons with disabilities towards becoming as independent as possible and integrate into society on an equal basis with others. Social services look at all areas of the person’s life, while drawing on related services for child care, education, employment, skills development, occupational therapy, assistive devices, awareness raising, accessibility and training. Our services are free of charge and open to anyone who needs help. We are one of 9 Provincial Associations situated throughout South Africa affiliated to the National Council for Persons with Physical Disabilities in South Africa (NCPPDSA), which in turn is affiliated to the South African Disability Alliance (SADA) and Rehabilitation International (RI).

Embracing Diversity in Disability Views this Heritage Month. As we celebrate our heritage in South Africa, let's examine how different cultures perceive disability. Unfortunately, stigma and misconceptions persist, leading to exclusion and marginalisation. Let's work together to create a more inclusive society by understanding and respecting diverse views on disability. Share your thoughts and let's break down barriers! 🔗 https://wcapd.org.za/ #wcapd #HeritageMonth #disabilityawareness #culture

Today, as we honour the legacy of Nelson Mandela, we are reminded of the values he embodied: inclusivity, independence, and the relentless pursuit of justice and equity. His commitment to making the world a better place continues to inspire our mission at WCAPD. Madiba’s unwavering dedication to human rights and social justice resonates deeply with our cause. He believed in a society where every individual has the right to live with dignity, access opportunities, and participate fully in all aspects of life. At WCAPD, we strive to carry forward Mandela’s vision by advocating for the rights and inclusion of persons with disabilities. We work tirelessly to ensure that everyone in our community can lead independent and fulfilling lives. Through our programmes and initiatives, we focus on: Inclusivity: Creating environments where persons with disabilities are welcomed and valued. Independence: Providing resources and support to empower individuals to live autonomously. Acceptability: Promoting understanding and acceptance within our communities. This Mandela Day, we invite you to take action and support our efforts. Whether through volunteering, donating, or simply spreading awareness, your contribution can make a significant impact. Together, let's honour Nelson Mandela's legacy by making the world a better, more inclusive, place for all. 𝙔𝙊𝙐𝗧𝗛 𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗧𝗛 Persons with impairments want opportunities, not handouts or special treatment or to be disabled by outdated thinking. Will you be the reason someone is disabled or will you practice inclusion in all spheres of your daily life? #YouthMonth | #YouthWithDisabilities

𝙔𝙊𝙐𝗧𝗛 𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗧𝗛 Training material must include information on the challenges of disability, available as separate modules or incorporated as part of existing curricula. Such training will greatly increase the public's understanding that disability is a social construct so that the effects can be reduced. #YouthMonth | #YouthWithDisabilities

𝗔𝗱𝘂𝗹𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 Our Adult Inclusion Drive Assessment (AIDA) is a vital tool for evaluating the functional capacity and motivation of individuals with disabilities. AIDA dives deep by assessing motivation levels through collage making. This innovative approach provides valuable insights, guiding placement in the right Work and Employment Programme. Administered by skilled professionals familiar with disabilities and SWC programmes, AIDA ensures a precise match between drive level and programme fit. For young persons with disabilities, this means being placed in work environments where they are happy and doing what they love best. Let’s celebrate inclusivity and empowerment this Youth Month and beyond!
