Doctoral Degree Requirements

To earn a doctoral degree at Bellevue University, candidates must complete the following minimum credit hours based on the specific degree earned:
DBA – 55 | Ph.D. – 51

Specific requirements for each advanced degree are listed below.

General Requirements

To receive their doctoral degree, all graduating students must:

  • Meet all doctoral program admission requirements.
  • Complete all curriculum requirements listed in the assigned University Catalog.
  • Pass all degree-required doctoral courses with a grade of "C" or better.
    A maximum of six credits with a grade below a "B-" and no grade below a "C".
  • Attain an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher in the doctoral degree program.

Doctoral Degree Residence Requirements

  • Have at least 49 credit hours in-residence courses at Bellevue University (online courses are considered in-residence)

All credit hours are stated in semester hours.

Time to Complete

The length of time to complete the Human Capital Management (Ph.D.) or Business Administration (DBA) programs for most students attending full-time, each term from start to finish is three years.

Note: Because of the cohort and concentrated nature of the Doctoral programs, doctoral-level credit hours from other university programs will typically not be accepted in transfer. Degree requirements can also be found in the Academic Catalog and Student Handbook.
