SAN DIEGO, CA — A school district in San Diego County is one of the most sought after school districts in the county, according to a new report.

San Dieguito Union High School District ranked among the top 250 "Most Envied School Districts in the U.S.," according to Test Prep Insight.

The online education company compiled the rankings based on a survey of 3,000 parents who were asked which school district they would most like for their children if given a choice. The most sought after districts were in wealthy suburbs of major metropolitan cities, according to the survey.

Award-winning San Dieguito Union High School District landed at No. 14 on the list. The district, which is headquartered in Encinitas, serves students from five elementary school districts in North County: Cardiff, Del Mar, Encinitas, Rancho Santa Fe and Solana Beach. The district has five middle schools, five high schools, and one alternative high school.

San Dieguito was the only San Diego area school district that made the rankings.

Lower Merion School District in Pennsylvania landed at the top of the list.
