Canton Library Hosting Talk On 1944 Hartford Circus Fire

The free event will be on Tuesday, July 18, with a presentation by the Connecticut Museum of Culture and History.

CANTON, CT — July 6 marked the 80th anniversary of the Hartford Circus Fire, one of the worst fire disasters in US history.

Since then, the circus fire has lived in the memories of survivors and become a part of Connecticut lore. A total of 168 people were killed, many of them children and/or parents.

On Tuesday, July 16, the Canton Public Library at 7 p.m. will host a program on the tragedy presented by the Connecticut Museum of Culture and History.

Registration is requested to ensure enough seating.
