CANTON, CT — Work crews are scrambling to complete the Collinsville Village Streetscape Project prior to the weather really turning fowl.

But, according to Canton officials this week, that's proving challenging.

"As fall becomes winter, towns in Connecticut are scrambling to finish construction projects before the weather turns. There is also the holidays to consider," wrote the Town of Canton vial social media on Thursday.

"It would be wonderful to wrap up 100% before the festive season arrives. Unfortunately, some things are harder to get done than others, and this project is no exception."

Right now, officials said, workers are prepping to shift utility cables from the old poles to the new ones at the intersection of North and Bridge streets.

This will allow for the completion of the intersection curbing and remaining sidewalk.

"If the weather cooperates, we can then mill & pave that area as well," wrote the town. "A few more small sidewalk sections were completed recently, and all landscaping is now done for the year."

As always, businesses in the area will remain open and accessible during construction.

Main Street will remain open during construction and motorists are asked to slow down while traveling through work zones.
