Social Security Explained at Free Canton Library Seminar

Learn about your eligibility, the difference between full vs. delayed retirement benefits, how to file for benefits, tax consequences & more

On Wednesday, September 20, at 6:30 p.m., The Society for Financial Awareness (SoFA) will sponsor a free seminar called, “Social Security Explained,” at the Canton Public Library. SoFA is a not-for-profit organization that seeks to provide financial education to the public through instructive and informational workshops such as this one. Some of the topics to be covered will be: the type of social security benefits you are eligible to receive; the difference between full retirement age and delayed retirement; filing for benefits, and the effect of taxes on your benefits.

The seminar presenters are Chad Burroughs, President of Burroughs Investment Group, and Kathryn Dennen, both independent investment advisors, with over 32 years of experience in the industry. As frequent speakers on financial planning, they cover topics of the highest interest; retirement income planning as well as investments, insurance and estate planning.

Because seating is limited, registration is requested for seating setup. A question and answer session follows the presentation. Canton Public Library is located at 40 Dyer Avenue in Canton. For information or to register, please call (860) 693-5800, or email [email protected]. Information is also available under Upcoming Programs on the Library website at www.cantonpubliclibrary.org.
