Southern CT Weather: Rain, Thunderstorms Move In This Weekend

Enjoy the sun today and early on Saturday because you may not see it for awhile. Here's why in the updated weekend forecast.

A Hazardous Weather Outlook has been issued for the weekend in Southern Connecticut as the sunny skies we've been enjoying the past few days will give way to heavy rain and thunderstorms late Saturday and Sunday. The rain won't be going anywhere either as it could rain through next Thursday. So enjoy the sun today and the sun through Saturday afternoon because who knows when it will return.

The National Weather Service says for Southern Connecticut, "An area of low pressure will affect the region late Saturday into Sunday morning. Rainfall totals of 1 to 2 inches are likely, with locally higher amounts possible in any thunderstorms that develop. Areas of urban and poor drainage flooding are likely, with localized flash flooding possible. Additionally, a few strong to possibly severe thunderstorms are possible, with a weak tornado not out of the question."

WTNH News 8 Gil Simmons adds, "Sunny skies all day today and a great afternoon with a wonderful evening. High temperatures in the 80s enjoy it! Dry for most of the day on Saturday. But a rough round of wind and rain for later Saturday night & early Sunday morning! There could be some scattered power outages too!"
