Connecticut Weather: Nor'easter Chance Increases For Monday

Computer models on Saturday now show the nor'easter coming closer to CT on Monday, but it's still unclear what impacts the state may see.

The big question concerning whether another nor'easter will impact Connecticut's weather early next week is all about how close it will track to the state. A track close enough to Connecticut to impact our weather with snow and and wind can't be ruled out and new data Saturday shows the storm is likely to move closer to the state.

WTNH News 8 Meteorologist said on social media Saturday afternoon that new computer models show the storm now tracking "closer" to Connecticut for Monday night and Tuesday. This news is a bit of a change from Friday when computer models showed the nor'easter largely remaining off-shore and having very little impact on Connecticut. Meteorologists say the storm needs to be watched closely and more information on what impacts Connecticut may see will be known on Sunday. Southern Connecticut has a 40 percent chance for snow on Monday night and Tuesday, while Northern Connecticut has slightly better odds for snow at 60 percent, according to the National Weather Service.

"A storm developing over the southeastern states late in the weekend will have to be monitored closely for Monday and Tuesday. There is a lot of uncertainty regarding how close the storm comes to the region and what any impacts may be. The forecast should be monitored in the upcoming days due to the chance of mainly snow which may impact the region. The best chance of any impacts from the storm at this point in time is for southern and eastern parts of the region," the National Weather Service says.

Local meteorologists say they can't write off the nor'easter impacting the state.
