PALATINE, IL — Starting Friday, the Palatine Police Department will partner with the Illinois Department of Transportation and law enforcement throughout the state for an enforcement campaign to crack down on impaired driving during the winter holidays. Through Jan. 4, motorists will see an increase in patrols, traffic stops and messaging on the dangers of impaired driving as part of the high-visibility enforcement campaign, a news release from the police department said.

Palatine police will also conduct a roadside safety check starting Friday evening through Saturday morning, around Algonquin and Roselle Roads.

“During this season of caring, let’s remember to extend our goodwill to fellow motorists,” Sergeant David Brandwein said, in the news release. “The best way we can do that is by making a commitment to drive sober and thereby help ensure that we all make it to our destinations safely.”
