PALATINE, IL — Fall fun is happening around Palatine. The village continues announcing fall and Halloween festivities for the month of October, several of which are outlined below. Patch will continue updating this growing list:

Fall Festival at Palatine Stables

What: The Fall Festival at Palatine Stables is a family event for children ages 3 to 10 who are accompanied by a parent or adult guardian 18 years or older, and limited to four family members. There will be pony rides, pumpkin decorating, fall-themed make & take crafts, and a selfie station with a live horse. Face coverings and social distancing are required.

When: 10:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday. (Oct. 10). Register for one of the 75-minute time blocks.

Where: Palatine Stables — 1510 W. Northwest Hwy, Palatine

Harvest Hayride & Bonfire

Get ready for this family-friendly event happening Oct. 9 and 10 throughout Twin Lakes Recreation area, 1200 E. Twin Lakes Drive. Hayrides will be taken around the park as a story is read, and s'mores and hot chocolate will be ready for you as you relax around a bonfire.

The event fee is $5 per person, and children under 1-year-old are free. Pre-registration is required and masks must be worn on the hayride. There is a limit of 25 people per hayride.

The 5:10 p.m. ride is for younger kids and will start while it is still light outside, the Salt Creek Park District website states, and all are reminded to please dress for the weather. An adult must accompany children.

Halloween Hustle 5K and Kid's Dash

What: This is the 15th annual fall race event. A fast, fun, USATF-Certified course. All 5K participants receive a dri-fit shirt, a hauntingly festive finisher medal and more. All are invited to partake in a special after-party following the race at Tap House Grill. Bring your costumes!

When: 9 a.m. on Oct. 31

Where: 345 North Eric Drive, Palatine, IL, 60067, followed by an after-party at Tap House Grill, 56 W. Wilson Street, Palatine.
