PALATINE, IL — Although it will be a bit different this year due to restrictions amid the coronavirus pandemic, the Village of Palatine invites the community to help kick off the holiday season at the annual Holiday Tree Lighting event on Nov. 21 at Towne Square Park.

To help mitigate the spread of the coronavirus this year, the village asks everyone to stay inside their cars — "park and watch — during the event, which kicks off at 5 p.m., according to a news release. That's where you'll be able to watch the holiday tree lighting and see Santa light up the Towne Square.

After the tree lighting, the village invites everyone to head south, in their cars, on Greeley Street (between Slade Street and Palatine Road), to wave to Santa.
