Kensington Park Library

Jenny Wilson is a native New Yorker who has lived in Maine, Switzerland and now resides in Chevy Chase, MD. Her husband and bassist, Nathan Wilson, is native to Chevy Chase and is Jenny’s partner in life and music as well as their flourishing art career. 
Jenny’s original music is soothing and full of rich harmonic language. Her background in classical music has provided her with a beautiful palette of colors for her music. 
Nathan is a lyrical accompanist on the bass and is responsible for recording their music on four CD projects. 
Veronica Cox is a DC native and has been singing in choirs from a young age. She is well versed in the Brazilian culture of song and dance and sings bossa nova in the original Portuguese.
The trio will present music for all ages, with repertoire ranging from Prince to Charlie Brown, original music, contemporary jazz and songs from the Great American Songbook, all with the creative arrangements by Jenny Wilson.
This program is supported by Friends of the Library, Montgomery County, MD. All ages are welcome and no registration is necessary.&nbsp; FREE!

FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 6 &amp; SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 7 Roots is a Palestinian Israeli Initiative for Understanding Nonviolence and Transformation A unique network of Palestinians and Israelis, Roots’ participants have come to see each other as the local partners we both need to make changes to end our conflict. Based on a mutual recognition of each People’s connection to the Land, Roots is dedicated to developing understanding and solidarity despite our ideological differences. These are texts that provide some of the Jewish theological foundations for the work of Roots that tries to find room in our hearts for both the Jewish and the Palestinian narratives and experiences. 6:30pm Erev Shabbat Service On the first Friday of Elul Temple Emanuel hosts our guests from Roots who will be giving the d'var torah. We will also have our Temple Emanuel Board Installation and feature our Mizmor L'Shabbat Band. An oneg with the opportunity to speak with our guests and continue the discussion based on what we heard tonight will follow the service. (No registration required for service or oneg.) SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 7 Shabbat Salon and Seudah Shlisheet (light meal) RSVP required by Friday 8/30 4:00pm Two Truths in One Heart: Two Peoples in One Land Join us as Noor A'wad and Rabbi Hanan Schlesinger share personal stories of transformation and insights born of meeting one another. National Park Seminary

Come and visit a variety of historic interiors at National Park Seminary, including a sorority house, the music hall, the gymnasium, the chapel and 4 other locations that have been converted to private residences. We will also have a surprise additional historic feature to view.

In this 75 minute Sound Journey participants will comfortably assume savasana poses with eye coverings (suggested but not mandatory). This will allow for an inward journey facilitated by a myriad of sounds. Phil will utilize instruments/tools including bamboo chimes, a bison skin drum, rattles, crystal bowls, a gong, an ocean drum, a tongue drum, and a Tibetan metal singing bowl to open the doorways to inner exploration and experience. This variety of sounds typically elicits an array of experiences- not just relaxation alone. It is encouraged that participants set intentions of inviting whatever experiences are most beneficial for them at this phase of their journey. The final 10-12 minutes of the session will be safe-space sharing of experiences. Only those who wish to share will share.
