MASSACHUSETTS — Welcome to Patch's weekly round up of food and restaurant news in Massachusetts, where we review openings, closings and more in the state's dining scene.

Are the "world's greatest hamburgers" not enough for Massachusetts?

This week we learned that the Saugus Fuddruckers location, open since the 1980s, will close. That leaves just one Fuddruckers left in all of New England in Reading. The Texas-based company, whose restaurants operate as independent franchises, has seen turmoil in recent years with a bankruptcy in 2010 and a series of ownership changes.

New Tree House Brewing

The powerhouse Massachusetts brewer Tree House is expanding again. After opening new locations in Deerfield, Sandwich and Tewksbury over the last two years (on top of the original Charlton base), the brewery is planning to build its first out-of-state facility in Saratoga Springs.

"Tree House is purchasing a beautiful property on Route 9, where we will build an impressive new facility from the ground up, featuring our world-renowned beverages and an expansive indoor and outdoor experience," the brewery said in a tweet. "Situated across the street from Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC), around the corner from Saratoga Race Course, minutes from I-87, thirty minutes north of Albany, and under an hour from the much celebrated Adirondack State Park, this facility will serve as an incredible base camp for your chosen adventures."

This will technically be the second out-of-state site for Tree House. The brewer has a farm in Woodstock, Conn., just over the Massachusetts line that you can visit, if you make a reservation.
