Easton Storm Shelter Open

Easton storm update: a shelter was opened at Olmsted Richardson School on Lothrop Street.

EASTON, MA — Easton officials on Saturday opened a shelter for those affected by Friday's devastating storm. The shelter is at Olmsted Richardson School on Lothrop Street.

As of Saturday at 8 p.m., 8,672 were still without power in Easton. That figure represents 87 percent of town. National Grid said outages will continue until at least Sunday.

At the height of the storm, more than 450,000 lost power across the state. Reports indicate outages will likely persist into late next week. The good news for line crews is the weather will be calm and seasonable all week, with brief periods of rain.
