Greg Montalbano, who was a well-known pitcher from Westborough who threw on the diamond for St. John’s, the Worcester Tornadoes, Northeastern University and the Red Sox organization, lost his battle with cancer in 2009 at age 32.

He was also an Eagle Scout in Troop 100 in Westborough, the same troop that now helped honor his legacy by dedicating an archery pavilion in his name at Camp Resolute in Bolton, reported the Community Advocate.

Montalbano wanted to create a golf tournament along with baseball game called One Ball Two Strikes, and although did not complete it, his family and friends created the One Ball Two Strikes Foundation, which now runs the annual tournament in his honor.

About One Ball Two Strikes: ”Through the generous support of our sponsors, golfers, and donors, we are able to give money to various organization that carry out our mission to honor Greg by providing unique and/or once-in-a-lifetime experiences for children or young adults and their families battling terminal or life-threatening illnesses, as well as to provide positive recreational opportunities for the youth in our communities.
