DEP Issues Air Quality Alert for Shrewsbury, Area

The Department of Environmental Protection is alerting several counties, including Middlesex and Worcester, of unhealthy air quality levels.

SHREWSBURY, MA—The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection is issuing an air quality alert for the area on Thursday.

The alert, which includes Middlesex and Worcester Counties, is in effect from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Thursday. While the alert is in effect, it means that the ground level ozone concentrations within the region may approach or exceed unhealthy standards. Simply put, that means it could get hot and heavy. Stay cool, and drink lots of liquids.

Highs creep into the mid to upper 80s in the region, making way for showers late Thursday night or Friday morning.
