SHREWSBURY, MA — A big upgrade for pedestrians and bicyclists may soon be coming to Jordan Pond in Shrewsbury.

The town on Tuesday received a $50,000 grant from the MassTrails program to "pursue the design and engineering for a new shared use path on the southern, eastern, and northern sides of Jordan Pond," state officials said.

Today, a paved path at Jordan Pond only extends from the parking lot on Ridgeland Road along the west side of the path. The remaining path around the pond is a mix of dirt and sand. The dirt pathway often floods, preventing easy access.
