Shrewsbury Plans Ever First Autism Awareness Festival

The event will coincide with the recognition of Autism Awareness Month in the U.S.

SHREWSBURY, MA — Three local police departments will collaborate to host the first autism awareness festival in Shrewsbury centered around allowing young people to interact with emergency vehicles.

The April 22 event will take place at the Shrewsbury UMass-Chan campus, and will coincide with the wider Autism Awareness Month in April.

The Shrewsbury, Worcester and UMass police departments are sponsoring the event, which will feature a range of vehicles that children autism can interact with, including police and fire vehicles, ambulances and construction equipment.

The event is free to attend, and food trucks will be on hand with refreshments for sale. The event will run from noon to 4 p.m. on April 22 at UMass-Chan in Shrewsbury, 333 South St.
