SHREWSBURY, MA — Boaters using Lake Quinsigamond and adjacent Flint Pond will have to obey new speed limits due to high water levels.

The Lake Quinsigamond Commission issued the blanket no-wake zone following heavy rain over the weekend that increased waters levels. The slow speeds are necessary to prevent wakes from damaging the shoreline and properties along it.

"All users of the lake are reminded that no wake means operating at headway speed which is no greater than 6 mph. Remember that users are responsible for their wakes," the commission said in a bulletin.
