Construction Ahead: Ford Road To Be Resurfaced In Dearborn

Ford Road in Dearborn and Dearborn Heights will be undergoing renovation this spring. Here's what you need to know about the project.

DEARBORN, MI — Ford Road is getting a makeover. The Michigan Department of Transportation is making a multi-million dollar investment along roadway in Dearborn and Dearborn Heights starting in April. The $2.7 million project will mill and resurface almost two miles of Ford Road between Telegraph and Inkster roads.

The project includes concrete patch work, curb and gutter repair, upgrading sidewalk ramps to meet Americans with Disabilities Act standards, improving pedestrian signals, and doing drainage work, and pavement markings. MDOT officials say drivers and pedestrians will have improved traffic safety and smoother riding surfaces.

The work will start on Friday, April 6 and it’s expected to be wrapped up by the end of June. During the project, traffic will be reduced to two lanes in each direction of Ford Road during the weekday morning and afternoon rush hours. During off-peak times, overnight and on weekends, only one lane will be open in each direction.
