WEATHER ALERT: Flash Flood Watch In Effect For Lacey
Afternoon and evening thunderstorms are possible, increasing the flooding risk in Ocean County.
Severe weather in the forecast has led meteorologists at the National Weather Service’s Mount Holly office to issue a flash flood watch for Lacey Township as well as all of Ocean County.
Showers and thunderstorms are expected to become more numerous this afternoon and evening, producing some excessive short-duration rainfall, which can be as much as 2 inches per hour in some places, the service warns.
The advisory is in effect from noon until midnight, the weather service said.

“If these amounts of rain materialize, dangerous roadway flooding would occur,” the alert notes. Blocked storm drains can contribute to the problem.
“A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that could lead to a rapid rise of water,” the service says, urging residents to monitor the forecast throughout the day.
