Historic Fort Monmouth Celebrates A Notable Spring Transformation

Fort Monmouth Announces a Spring Forward Transformation into Jersey Shore's Premier Live/Work/Play Community

Historic Fort Monmouth is celebrating one of its most notable springs since efforts to transform the 1,126-acre former U.S. Army post into the Jersey Shore’s premier live/work/play community got underway.

Several significant announcements have been made in the past few weeks alone that will further boost the evolution of Fort Monmouth. Construction has begun on the former Bowling Center, which is transitioning into the “Alley at the Fort,” a recreation and social facility expected to feature 20 bowling lanes, full-service restaurant, bocce courts, pool tables, shuffleboard, along with several private party rooms. The Alley at the Fort will join other lifestyle amenities in the works at Fort Monmouth, including The Loft, a new microbrewery, coffee house and banquet facility and The Fort Athletic Club, to create a walkable, amenity-rich community in the heart of Monmouth County.

Existing neighborhood amenities are also poised for new growth. The Marina at Oceanport, which opened in 2015 in Fort Monmouth, has officially been sold to its operator, Mario Criscione, who expects the restaurant and bar to become an even more popular destination on Oceanport Creek.

These lifestyle elements will be a perfect complement to Fort Monmouth’s first residential component, East Gate, a collection of 68 upscale residences, which has some exciting news of its own. The luxury neighborhood bordering Parkers Creek is on the verge of a complete sell-out, with just a limited inventory of single-family attached homes available for sale, according to RPM Development Group, the trailblazing developer that created East Gate in century-old Officer’s Housing.

East Gate has played a key role in creating a vibrant, active environment at Fort Monmouth by delivering an inviting neighborhood now home to nearly 100 residents, many of which can often be seen strolling along its completed sidewalks and landscaped streets. Homeowners can also be found at the one-acre East Gate Park which includes pedestrian pathways, benches, newly-seeded lawns, seasonal flowers and shrubbery and a modernized lightning/lantern package. The centerpiece of the park is a monument that pays homage to the storied history of Fort Monmouth. What’s more, residents delight in the majesty and natural beauty of Parkers Creek which is home to a wealth of outdoor activities.

Priced from the mid-$800,000s, the three-bedroom single-family attached homes at East Gate are part of Officer’s Row and feature Federal-style red brick exteriors that date back to the early 1900s, a time when building strength and fine craftsmanship were the norm.

The residences offer over 2,500 square feet of living space with 2.5 baths, dining/living room, open concept kitchen, expansive master bedroom suite with lavish master bath and sitting room and den that makes for the perfect home office that everyone wants and needs in today’s business climate. Crown molding can be found throughout the main living level and hardwood flooring is included on both the first and second floors. Outside, each available residence offers an expansive yard and large 400 square foot patio that provides clear views of Parkers Creek, a picturesque waterway bordering East Gate. The valued outdoor space is a rare find in a low-maintenance community.

East Gate is easily accessible to New Jersey Transit’s Little Silver Train Station, located just two miles away, and express ferry service, both of which provide fast service to Manhattan. The community is also situated just minutes from popular New Jersey beaches and the banks of the Shrewsbury River, and is in proximity to the entertainment, dining and culture of Red Bank and Asbury Park. Major highways, including Routes 35, 36, 18 and the Garden State Parkway, are also nearby.
