Bliss Pastries Wins Best Cookies, Gluten-Free Menu, On Long Island

DIX HILLS, NY — Bliss Pastries won the awards of Best Cookies on Long Island and Best Gluten-Free Menu on Long Island in the 2024 Bethpage Best of LI Awards.

Stacy Malinow, a Dix Hills woman, launched the shop in February 2021. She sells online and wholesale cookies and brownies.

"We are incredibly elated and grateful that our cookies were the first gluten-free cookie to win the title Best Cookie," Malinow told Patch. "One of the missions of our company was to make gluten-free desserts that all people would love and wouldn't taste gluten-free. There is a stigma that gluten-free desserts don't taste as good as 'regular' desserts and many people avoid them because of this belief. However, our desserts prove gluten-free desserts can still taste amazing and everyone will want them. You don't have to be gluten-free to love our desserts."

Malinow began baking gluten-free after her daughter was diagnosed with celiac disease in 2005. Celiac disease causes an immune reaction to eating gluten, a protein found in wheat, barley, and rye.

Malinow said the gluten-free and celiac community is "amazing," as it places its trust in businesses to make good products that are safe for them to eat.

"We are so lucky to have the support of those customers and so many more that love our desserts and want to share them with others," Malinow said.

Bliss Pastries brownies are not only free of gluten and nuts, but also free of dairy, she said.
