The foundation educates people on breast cancer prevention, early detection, risk reduction and healthy lifestyle choices.

The Maurer Foundation’s mission is to save lives through breast health education that focuses on breast cancer prevention, healthy lifestyle choices, early detection, and risk reduction. Our certified staff is committed to providing comprehensive and accurate information through engaging and interactive programming. Our trainings are tailored to meet the needs of diverse audiences and are offered in a variety of formats, including high school, college, community, and corporate programs.
What inspired you to start your charity?
Responding to the need in her own practice, breast surgeon Dr. Virginia Maurer first made breast health education programs available to her patients and their families. The success of these programs encouraged her to reach out to the general public, but particularly to adolescent women through high school breast health programs. Dr. Maurer believes that the choices we make early in life can affect our future breast health. Since 1995, The Maurer Foundation has been serving the community as a separate not-for-profit organization, for which Dr. Maurer actively participates as founder, motivator and an inspiration.
How can people help you accomplish your organization's mission or get involved in events
There are many ways to get involved! Attend one of our events, including our Golf Classic, Pink Diamond Gala, or Motorcycle Ride, host a fundraiser, invite our breast health educators to present in your classroom, host a workshop with your community group, or schedule a corporate workshop at your office, volunteer your time at one of our events, follow us on social media, or simply make a donation.
What is the most memorable moment you've had since starting your organization?
The full circle success stories - We recently honored David Marino, group president & COO of American Global, at our Pink Diamond Gala. His wife, Karen, is a breast cancer survivor who discovered she had breast cancer after their daughter, Kristina, who attended one of our high school breast health programs, urged her mother to seek a second opinion.
