Suffolk County HS Senior Breaks Ground In New York's All-Girls Wrestling Tournament

BELLPORT, NY — Bellport High School senior Cadence Howard became one of the first wrestlers to compete in the state's Public High School Athletic Association’s inaugural all-girls wrestling invitational tournament held in Syracuse on Jan. 27, South Country Central School District officials stated in a news release.

Howard, who has been wrestling since middle school, was one of 410 girls from across New York to compete in 13 weight classes, showcasing her "impressive skills," according to school district officials.

She came in 5th place in her weight class, school district officials said.

Howard is not only on Bellport's varsity wrestling team, but also the varsity cheer and softball teams.

School district officials congratulated Howard "on a job well done."
