Long Island Weather: Coastal Storm to Make For a Messy Monday

Expect a slow ride home from work Monday.

Heavy rain will likely impact the Monday evening commute on Long Island, according to the National Weather Service.

Rain will overspread the area from west to east Monday morning, becoming heavy at times during the afternoon and evening before tapering off Monday night.

The rain may hold off until after the Monday morning rush hour commute, but the ride home promises to be a rough one.

Coastal flooding is a concern, especially for southern Nassau County where a coastal flood warning will be in effect from 8-11 a.m. There is an elevated threat of property damage in southern Nassau and widespread flooding of vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline is likely.
