April 28, 2023

On April 21, Brookhaven Town Supervisor Ed Romaine was at the Swan River Preserve in Patchogue for the annual Earth Day clean-up with Environmental Analysts Amanda Kieran, and Alan Duckworth from the Town’s Division of Environmental Protection. The passive park, which opened in 2016, was constructed by the Town on a 3.8-acre site that was formerly occupied by a long vacant car dealership. It is located in an environmentally sensitive area adjacent to the Swan River and across Montauk Highway from Swan Lake.

In 2020, the Town demolished a vacant structure on a .28-acre County-owned parcel directly to the east of the Swan River Preserve. This property is adjacent to four acres of undeveloped Town-owned land to the south. Both properties are slated to be joined with the Swan River Preserve as part of the Town’s plan to improve the area known as the East Main Street Corridor.
