GOP Leads Suffolk Legislative Districts In Brookhaven In Unofficial Results

Republicans were leading in the 3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th, and 8th LDs, not the 2nd and 5th, unofficial results show.

FARMINGVILLE, NY — The Suffolk Legislative Districts throughout Brookhaven Town were held by Republicans — for the most part, according to unofficial results from the Suffolk County Board of Elections on Wednesday morning.

As of 11:45 p.m., Republican candidates were leading most of their races.

In the 3rd Legislative District, incumbent Legis. James Mazzarella was challenged by Thaddeus I. O'Neil. Mazarrella was leading O'Neil 69 percent to 31 percent.

In the 4th Legislative District, incumbent Legis. Nicholas Caracappa has been challenged by Timothy Hall. Caracappa was leading Hall 64 percent to 36 percent.

In the 6th Legislative District, Dorothy Cavalier ran against Chad Lennon for the seat of incumbent Legis. Sarah Anker. Lennon, a Republican, was leading Cavalier, a Democrat, 61 percent to 38 percent.

In the 7th Legislative District, incumbent Legis. Dominick Thorne was challenged by Ryan McGarry. Thorne was leading McGarry 54 percent to 46 percent.

In the 8th Legislative District, incumbent Legis. Anthony Piccirillo has been challenged by Heather Gallagher. Piccirillo was leading Gallagher 69 percent to 30 percent.

But two districts differed from the others.

In the 2nd Legislative District, Ann Welker, a Democrat, ran against Manuel Vilar, a Republican. Welker was leading Vilar by 61 percent to 38 percent.

Also, in the 5th Legislative District, former state assemblyman Steven Englebright, a Democrat, ran against Anthony Figliola, a Republican, for the seat formerly held by Kara Hahn. Englebright was leading Figliola 53 percent to 47 percent as of deadline.
