LI Man Drove Car Into Second Floor Of Home, Injuring Woman: PD

The 22-year-old was driving at a "high rate of speed" when his car crashed into the second story of the home Wednesday morning, police said.

MEDFORD, NY — A Patchogue man was arrested Wednesday morning after Suffolk police said he crashed his car into the second floor of a Medford home — injuring a woman inside — then ran away.

Jose Argueta Garcia, 22, was driving at a "high rate of speed" when he lost control of his 2002 Honda sedan and crashed into the second floor of a house on Bellport Avenue at 8:10 a.m., police said.

The woman in the house suffered an eye injury and was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment. The driver was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Garcia ran away from the scene and was found a short time later, police said. He was charged with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash with injury and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash with property damage.

He was issued three summonses and a field appearance ticket.
