Local Girl Scout Wins Light Show Display Contest

Winners Will Have Their Artistry Transformed into Amazing Light Displays For The 2023 Girl Scouts of Suffolk County Holiday Light Show

The Girl Scouts of Suffolk County (GSSC) is excited to announce that Brownie Girl Scout Gia Raimond of Oakdale-Bohemia and Troop 340, has been selected as one of five winners of the 2023 Girl Scout Holiday Light Show Display Contest. The contest is held each year ahead of the Girl Scouts of Suffolk County annual Holiday Light Show to select five designs from Girl Scouts that will be made into new custom light displays to be featured as part of the show's “Girl Scout Way.”

“This year’s Holiday Light Show is set to be our largest yet, and we are so excited to include more brand-new lights designed by our very own Girl Scouts,” said Tammy Severino, President and CEO of the Girl Scouts of Suffolk County. “Our contest received over 80 incredible submissions just this year, making determining the winners an incredibly challenging decision. We thank each and every Girl Scout who participated in this year’s contest.”

Each submission featured a hand-drawn design of the applicant’s newly conceptualized light display idea. The display contest winners will have their designs turned into a light display to be featured as part of “Girl Scout Way,” a special section of the show that features favorites like the Girl Scout Cookie display and the designs from past winners of the contest.
