Man Killed In North Patchogue Crash

The crash occurred on North Ocean Avenue Wednesday morning.

NORTH PATCHOGUE, NY — An East Patchogue man was killed in crash in North Patchogue Wednesday morning, according to Suffolk police.

William Augi, 59, was driving a 1974 MG north on North Ocean Avenue when his car collided with a 2017 Nissan Murano at the intersection of Woodside Avenue at 8:50 a.m. The Nissan then collided with a red pickup truck and the driver of the truck fled the scene, police said.

Augi was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Nissan, a 44-year-old Medford woman, was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue for treatment of minor injuries.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
