Motorcyclist Dies In Suffolk Hit-And-Run Crash: PD

The crash took place in Patchogue Monday night, police say.

PATCHOGUE, NY — An East Patchogue man died in a hit-and-run crash in Patchogue Monday night, police said.

According to Suffolk County police, the crash took place at the intersection of Rider Avenue and Main Street at about 10:45 p.m.

Christopher Hlavaty, 22, was driving a 2008 Suzuki motorcycle north on Rider Avenue, turning left onto Main Street, when he was struck by a car traveling west on Main Street, police said.

The driver of the vehicle, described as an older, dark-colored sedan, fled southbound on Rider Avenue, police said.

Hlavaty was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
