NYS Senate 3rd District Preview: Dean Murray Vs. Farzeen Bham

LONG ISLAND, NY — Voters in New York's 3rd Senatorial District head to the polls on Nov. 8.

The candidates:

Dean Murray, an East Patchogue resident, previously represented New York's 3rd Assembly District. His terms of office went from 2010 to 2012 and then again from 2015 to 2018.

He will face Democrat Farzeen Bham, a political newcomer from Coram, in the election.

Either candidate will replace Sen. Alexis Weik, who is running for the 8th Senate District seat formerly held by departing Sen. Phil Boyle.

Communities in the 3rd Senatorial District stretch from the hamlets of Brentwood, Central Islip, East Islip, and Hauppauge to the Mastic-Shirley area.

It includes the hamlets of Bohemia, Centereach, Holbrook, Holtsville, Lake Ronkonkoma, Farmingville, Medford, the Sayville area, Great River, Oakdale, a portion of Fire Island, Bayport-Blue Point, and the greater Patchogue area, and Yaphank.
