Obituary: Jeffrey Davis, Of Medford, Dies At 73

The longtime local resident passed away due to complications from the coronavirus on Tuesday.

MEDFORD, NY — Jeffrey S. Davis, a longtime Medford resident, died on March 2, 2021 due to complications from the coronavirus. He was 73.

Davis was born in Brooklyn on May 14, 1947 to parents Murray and Marilyn Davis. He had two sisters, Shelly and Abby. He eventually moved to Medford in 1972, where he raised his children Mark and Karin Davis.

Davis served in the Army during the Vietnam War, eventually earning a bronze medal for his bravery. He also served in the National Guard for over 30 years, starting off as a commissioned officer before moving up the ranks to Major.

He then went on to work as a court officer for over 25 years in order to take care of his children and later became the owner of a local repair shop and gas station.

When he wasn't working, Davis always kept busy with his many hobbies. He loved music, playing in bands his entire life. His favorite musician was Eric Clapton and his favorite type of music was blues and rock.

In his free time, Davis also loved scuba diving and was a certified PADI instructor. He was also very handy and could fix or build anything he put his mind to, according to his son, Mark.

Davis was also an incredible shooter, taking first place in a national competition for marksmanship.

According to Mark, he loved being retired and couldn't understand people who were bored after retiring.

He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren Bobby, Ellianna, Riley, Zoey and Aubrey as well as his companion, Lynne.
