TOWN OF BROOKHAVEN, NY — The New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists of upcoming overnight closures of westbound lanes on the Long Island Expressway, or Interstate 495, in the Town of Brookhaven to facilitate a bridge painting and maintenance project.

Traffic will be detoured at Exit 63, or North Ocean Avenue/Suffolk County Route 83 and will be directed onto the North Service Road beginning Sunday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for about three weeks, weather permitting.

Motorists are urged to plan accordingly and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
