Patchogue Residents Sound Off on Snow Plowing

How have the roads in your neighborhood fared during the blizzard? Find out what your neighbors said on Facebook.

Winter Storm Jonas brought over a foot on snow to most of Long Island with a half dozen towns gaining totals of over 2 feet.

The blizzard led to travel bans on both the Long Island Expressway and the Northern State Parkway, while LIRR service was suspended until Monday morning.

While the bans are currently lifted, the LIRR is still facing sizable delays and numerous Long Island school districts announced closures as the island works to dig itself out of this weekend’s blizzard.

We asked Patch readers how they felt about the plowing done on their block. Here’s what you said:

  • “Absolutely! Kudos to Patchogue Village for always being ahead of the storm. The plows were out there all day and night. We are always pleased with how they work to clear the roads promptly during any snow storm.”
  • “The plow driver that cleared our street did a great job yesterday and last night. Just wish the Town of Brookhaven would follow what the Village of Patchogue does and send plows out the day after the storm to widen the roads and clear up the slushy mess that will refreeze overnight”
  • “Side roads are tolerable, but the main roads are very well done.”
  • “Oh did someone plow my road? I must have missed it. Cul-de-sac and dead end roads apparently aren’t on the list of roads to be plowed.”
  • “Was disappointed for first time ever. Rider Ave. and Main St. between rider and 112 were a mess.”
