PATCHOGUE, NY — Patchogue officials will host a meeting next week for residents whose homes are included in the first phase of the Patchogue River Watershed Sewer Project to connect 234 homes to the village's sewer system, according to a news release.

It will start at 7 p.m. on Sept. 20 at the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts.

The project will use grant funding from the state government to make the connection and install a Grinder Pump Unit on each property, village officials said, adding that the project will reroute the existing home drain line from the onsite sanitary disposal system to the grinder and then connect it to the sewer line in the roadway.

The village will maintain the grinder once the connections are finished, and if it ever needs repair or maintenance, the village will manage it without any separate bills to the homeowner, village officials said.

The project will be funded with grants obtained by Mayor Paul Pontieri and the Village Board, all of whom "worked to make the project possible at no cost to homeowners," officials stated in a news release.
