Patchogue's First Alive After Five Of 2017 Thursday

There are free shuttles this year from two locations to help visitors avoid the traffic and parking crunch downtown.

One of Long Island's premier summer family fun events kicks off Thursday evening as Alive After Five returns to Main Street in Patchogue.

The street fair, organized by the Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce, kicks off at 5 p.m. and will feature six stages of live music and entertainment, more than 90 craft and retail vendors, 11 food trucks, children's activities and amusements, a Chinese auction and much more.

This year there are free shuttles (full-size buses actually) that will pick up and drop off at the St. Joseph's College and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church parking lots continuously from 5 to 11 p.m.

"Please respect the residents that live close to town and use the shuttle," a post on the Alive After Five Facebook page says.

There will be three other Alive After Five events this summer on July 20, Aug. 3 and Aug. 17.
