Plein Art Kick-Off Greet And Paint Planned In Bellport Saturday

BELLPORT, NY — The South Bay Art Association will host the 3rd annual Plein Air kick-off greet-and-paint on Saturday at the Bellport Village Marina.

At the event, artists can register and receive instructions for this year’s event, on Plein Art event on Bellport Day on July 29, as well as a small goody bag. Artists have from July 15 through July 26 to create their pieces.

“We are thrilled to be hosting the 3rd Annual Plein Air event this month,” said the association's president, Jacqueline Dupré. “Our organization has a long history of Plein Air painting throughout the community and we are happy to continue the tradition.”

The Plein Air event covers the areas of East Patchogue, Hagerman, Bellport, and Brookhaven hamlets.

“This will allow for a variety of art to be created,” Committee Co-Chair Claudia Mirzaali said. “There are so many beautiful places to explore and paint, we wanted our participating artists to really take advantage of our creative surroundings.”

Upward of 40 artists are expected to participate "in what promises to be a wonderful showcase of local talent," officials said.

Local artists and curators have signed on to judge the artwork for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places, as well as honorable mention, in which prizes will be awarded with donated gifts from local businesses.

The finished work will be exhibited at Bellport Day on July 29.
