Retired U.S. Army Vet David Mann Nominated To NY's Veterans Hall Of Fame

He served in the army from 1968 to 1974 as a combat engineer in Vietnam and received two purple hearts.

PATCHOGUE, NY — U.S. Army veteran David Mann was nominated to the state Senate’s Veterans Hall of Fame by state Sen. Dean Murray, recently recognizing him at the VFW Post 2913’s general meeting in Patchogue.

Mann served in the army from 1968 to 1974 as a combat engineer in Vietnam and received two purple hearts for missions in South Vietnam, before retiring with the rank of sergeant.

He was awarded three army commendations with “V” devices for heroism and was also presented with the Conspicuous Service Medal in 1985 from former Gov. Mario Cuomo.

Murray said it was his privilege to honor Mann.

"Mr. Mann and the men and women like him who served in our nation’s military services deserve our utmost respect," he said. "I thank David Mann for his service to our country and protecting the rights and freedoms of the citizens of the United States of America."
