EAST PATCHOGUE, NY — There are plans to revamp Robo Car Wash in East Patchogue, according to a change of use application approved by the Town of Brookhaven on April 4.

The location, which is at the intersection of Montauk Highway and Lake Drive, has been closed since a shooting led to a car crashing into the building in August 2021, Suffolk police told Patch at the time.

The application sought a façade change for three existing car wash bays and an office, along with site improvements that included the replacement of concrete aprons next to the building, re-striping of parking stalls, and the addition of an Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant parking area.

The new facade must be approved, as well as the parking area modifications, replacement of the existing ground sign, relocation and enclosure of a dumpster, and addition of a retaining wall, lighting, and landscaping.

All signage shall be applied for with the building department and a chain link fence dumpster enclosure shall have slats or be made of solid material to shield the view of the dumpster.

The project is also subject to engineering approval.

The Planning Division will not recommend a Certificate of Occupancy be issued until a written request for an inspection has been received and a determination made that all the conditions have been met.

Patch has reached out to the applicant, Moraghan Engineering P.C. of Brightwaters, for comment.
