Sonic Boom? I Think Not!!!!

I felt the room sway and everything start rattling, then the room swooned. A few minutes later it happened again!

Yesterday at 1 PM, I was upstairs in my bedroom, in East Patchogue reading “email stuff” on my iPhone sitting in the chair I do most my writing in. Slowly but increasingly the room started to buzz with a sound like a dog shaking to get the water out of its hair. Then the room swayed causing all the antique jars, scented candles, and flower vases to shake as if they were about to tumble over. For a second I thought I was having a stroke and losing my balance. The jars and vases rattling slowed down and made weird sounds as they settled back to their usual still position. I didn’t know what to think? Was the housing coming undone even though it is only 9 years old? Did the foundation shift? I had not heard an explosion or any crashing sounds, and from this chair, and..LOL, I hear the LIRR a few times a day, like everyone else on Long Island, so I would have heard something.

I stood up to check the vases, and jars when once again the house swooned, I felt dizzy, again my first thought was. “am I or the house about to collapse or both? Again the jars, and vases started to move but slowly like in a gentle breeze everything just rattled slower, slower, and stopped.

My wife Cindi was down stairs very engaged talking on the phone , and when I came down she said she felt nothing and had a logical response saying, “It must have been a truck, or a National Grid thing.” I knew differently and continued to emphasize what I felt. Now she worried about the house structure but still told me it must have been a big truck passing, even as I pointed out in 7 years this had never happened even during the hurricanes and blizzards.

Cindi using her iPhone starting researching what might have caused the event. Slowly the internet started to buzz with other folks claiming they had experienced what I had. LOL First we were relieved there was nothing wrong with just our house but now we were curious what caused the event.

The US Geological Center reported no seismic activity. Then came a series of different reports via Patch and Newsday that it was a F-35C experiment with high speeds causing sonic booms off New Jersey. I have been around super sonic Jets and have experience sonic booms, they are loud, and go off in a series of, Boom......boom....booms. I never heard anything. Why were there three events but not in any cadence ? Why did the events have slow build ups as if gathering momentum and than having an apogee, highpoint of energy release?

I saw the movie Top Gun when Maverick(Tom Cruise) buzzes the control Tower on the Aircraft carrier causing a Sonic Boom, this was not that! Please comment and tell me what you think!!!
