EAST PATCHOGUE, NY — Sugar Dreams Bakery — the successor of Swan Bakery in East Patchogue — is celebrating its Grand Opening with specials through Sunday with some pretty steady patrons.

Master bakers and business partners Anali Roldan and Nicole Minor have seen a lot of patrons coming in telling them that they saw a recent story in Patch highlighting the soft opening of the new business last week and the support from the community has been great, Roldan said.

Anywhere between 50 and 70 patrons have come in since Friday for the grand opening alone, she said Saturday.

"The neighbors came here saying that they support us and we are really happy about that," she added.

Roldan said she and Minor are grateful for the support.

"We are blessed to be part of this amazing community," she said.

But Sunday is the last day for patrons to take advantage of Sugar Dreams Grand Opening specials such as 20% off the custom cakes for any occasion made by the two master bakers.

The duo has served up a litany of extravagant confections ranging from simple designs such as Louis Vuitton bag-themed cakes and cakes with dolls, superheroes, and unicorns to complicated, multi-layer pieces such as a life-size "Walking Dead" theme cake to cakes featuring Dolly Parton, Gene Simmons in his full-on KISS makeup to a cake replicating a Doritos bag.

Their cakes are so off-the-hook they have have shown them at the competition level.

Both women have heavy design experience and have run decoration departments at major bakeries. Between them, they have worked in Mario's Bakery in Oceanside, Buttercooky Bakery in Floral Park, and Dortoni's Bakery in Hicksville.

While the two specialize in custom cakes, the bakery will also have an in-house baker who will make fresh-baked pastries for breakfast every morning, and there will also be Italian and French bread brought in for customers.

Individual pastries such as various flavors of Danish and rugelach, as well as apple turnovers, and chocolate cigars will be offered, as well as cheesecake, fruit tarts, cannolis, creme puffs, mousse cups, cookies, cupcakes, and cake pops.

In keeping with the Swan Bakery's tradition, there will also be plenty of jelly doughnuts.

Anyone who stops by to make a purchase on Sunday can take advantage of the half-price Italian bread to take home for lunchtime heroes, or for later at family dinner. They will also be able to take home a complimentary bag of cookies.

The specials will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday.
