Man Dies After Crashing Pickup Truck On Sunrise Service Road

Police have ID'ed the 52-year-old man who was killed in the crash Thursday evening.

NORTH PATCHOGUE, NY — A 52-year-old man died after crashing his pickup truck on a Sunrise Highway service road in North Patchogue Thursday evening, police said.

According to Suffolk Police, Anthony Orlando was driving a 2003 Ford pickup eastbound on the main portion of the highway when the vehicle veered off the roadway east of Waverly Avenue and crashed on the eastbound Sunrise Highway Service Road at about 5 p.m.

Orlando, of Shirley, was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue where he was pronounced dead. The Ford was impounded for a safety check.

Traffic on Sunrise Highway near the crash scene was reduced to a single lane during the rush-hour commute.
