Train Hits Person Overnight At Patchogue LIRR Station: Report

PATCHOGUE, NY — A work train that was not carrying passengers struck a person who was reportedly lying on the tracks at the Long Island Railroad Station in Patchogue. It happened early Friday, the Daily Voice reported.

The person, whose gender wasn't immediately known, was reportedly lying on the tracks when the train entered into the station. The person survived the collision and was taken to an area hospital with a broken right arm, according to the MTA.

LIRR service on the Montauk branch was suspended for a brief period of time overnight. It resumed service for the morning commute, according to the Daily Voice.
