$55M In NVTA Money To Help Fund 3 Loudoun Transportation Projects

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Loudoun County is receiving $55 million from the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority to help fund three road improvement projects.

On Thursday, NVTA adopted its Fiscal Year 2024-2029 Six Year Program, dedicating $696.6 million to 23 multimodal transportation projects across the region. NVTA also transferred $21.1 million previously dedicated to an NVTA-funded project in Arlington County to fund the Crystal City to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport Multimodal Connection project, bringing the total number of funded projects in FY 2024-2029 to 24. NVTA is a regional organization tasked with allocating regional revenues to transportation projects in Northern Virginia localities with a focus on multimodal projects that will reduce traffic congestion.

"NVTA invests in multimodal transportation projects that alleviate traffic congestion and expand travel options, all with the priority of enhancing the quality of life for Northern Virginia residents," said Phyllis Randall, chair of NVTA and the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors, in a statement. "Each project in this Six Year Funding Program reflects NVTA’s unwavering commitment to reducing congestion and improving the quality of life for Northern Virginians."

NVTA's newly adopted funding program is the seventh in the authority's history. The latest funding program is the seventh NVTA's history. Over the years, the NVTA has committed more than $3.8 billion to advance 140 projects across the region.
